You are welcome to request State Archives to view in person in the Reading Room at the State Library, or to request digital copies for a fee. The Reading Room is located on the 3rd floor of the State Library and archives can be accessed during normal State Library opening hours. You are also welcome to book an appointment with an Archivist to discuss your research.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are warned that SRO's online catalogue includes the names of deceased persons. The SRO also acknowledges that accessing some of this material can be confronting.

Register online to make a digitisation request. You can also submit a digitisation request through our website. When requesting a digital copy, we will subsequently advise you if the archive is suitable for digitisation and provide you with information about payment. Archives that have restricted access status, or are fragile and difficult to copy without potentially incurring damage, are not generally digitised.
