Search and request State Archives to view in person in the Reading Room or request digital copies for a fee, by logging in and registering online.

The Reading Room is located on the 3rd floor of the State Library / State Archives and archives can be accessed during normal opening hours.

PLEASE NOTE: The SRO and State Library will be closed on Thursday 22 September for the National Day of Mourning and Monday 26 September 2022 for the King's Birthday holiday. Requests to access archives received between 4pm Wednesday 21 September and 4pm Friday 23 September will be available in the Reading Room by 11am Tuesday 27 September 2002. Requests received after 4pm Friday 23 September will be available by 11am on Wednesday 28 September 2022.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are warned that SRO's online catalogue includes the names of deceased persons. The SRO also acknowledges that accessing some of this material can be confronting.
