Scope and content

This series consists of correspondence sent to the Hon Graham John Edwards MLC. There are three types of correspondence represented within this series: "thankyou" letters, correspondence relating to Vietnam veterans' affairs and general correspondence from other Members of Parliament.

"Thank you" letters and congratulatory notes have been sent either directly to the Minister or are connected with the activities of the Minister's portfolios (eg. commendations for police officers from the general public).

Vietnam-related correspondence deals with a wide range of matters connected with Vietnam and Vietnam War veterans. These files contain both inward and outward correspondence on topics such as arranging transport for WA Vietnam veterans to attend the national memorial dedication in Canberra, the Vietnam veterans' Job Link Program, and reports on trade delegations/official visits to Vietnam.

General correspondence from Members of Parliament consists primarily of either correspondence circulated for comment by other Ministers, or letters forwarded for the Minister's attention from Members of Parliament on behalf of their constituents. The subject matter of this correspondence varies widely and includes such topics as the state of the economy, internal party matters, education, health, and parliamentary reform.
