History
The Environmental Protection Act 1971 provided for the setting up of an Environmental Protection Authority, an Environmental Protection Council and a Department of Environmental Protection.
The key function of the Environmental Protection Council was to advise the Minister and Environmental Protection Authority on matters of environmental policy.
On 9 May 1975, the Environmental Protection Council underwent a name change to become the Conservation and Environment Council.
