Administrative history
The development of the Town Planning Department can be traced back to 24 July 1911, when the Perth City Council resolved to form a joint Committee with the Councils of Subiaco, Leederville, North Perth and the Perth Road Board to formulate "a scheme or schemes for the improvement or remodelling of the city and its suburbs from traffic, aesthetic, and sanitary points of view".
During the early 1950's, when Perth was experiencing rapid growth, the Town Planning Department was formed.
