History
The Mental Health Commission was established on 8 March 2010 to lead mental health reform throughout the State and work towards an individual-centred mental health care system for Western Australians. The Commission was formed in part from the Department of Health's former Mental Health Division.
On 1 July 2015, the Mental Health Commission and the Drug and Alcohol Office were amalgamated to offer an integrated approach to mental health and alcohol and other drugs service delivery.
The Mental Health Commission purchases services for the State from a range of providers including public Health Service Providers, non-government organisations and private service providers.
