History
The Road Safety Commission was established on 1 July 2015. The Commission is a State Government Department and replaces the Office of Road Safety (ORS), a former business unit of Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA). The Office of Road Safety ceased operations on 30 June 2015.
The Road Safety Commission holds the responsibility of reducing road trauma on WA’s roads through harnessing the knowledge, expertise and interest in our community.
As part of a series of machinery of government changes initiated by the McGowan government, the Road Safety Commission was merged with the Western Australia Police. The Road Safety Commission continues to carry out its role and functions within the WA Police Force.
