History

State Cabinet approved the creation of the South West Development Authority on 18 April 1983. The South West Development Authority Act was assented to on 15 June 1984, and proclaimed on 1 July 1984.

The South West Development Authority was responsible for planning, coordinating and promoting the economic and social development of the south western region of Western Australia.

The South West Development Authority Act 1983 was repealed with the introduction of the Regional Development Commissions Act 1993. The South West Development Authority was succeeded by the South West Development Commission on 8 April 1994.
