Scope and content
The plans record original surveys made in the south west of the colony of Western Australia. The majority of the plans were originally recorded in the Plan Register as unnumbered folios.
Plans 228-247 were originally registered as 'Plans, Sections and Levels'. Plans 128-133 were originally registered in the 'Roads' sequence (see Series 236; Original Plans - Districts).
Plans 287-411 consist of photographic prints of earlier surveys (pre-colonisation) off the Western Australian coast. Thse prints had been sourced by the Department of Lands and Surveys.
In recent times, all of these plans were registered as one series by the Custodian of Plans at the Department of Lands and Surveys. They were transferred to the State Records Office between 1962 and 1964 and were originally accessioned as 572C. In the early 1980's they were all given individual six digit tally numbers.
