History
The Department of Regional Development and Lands was established on 1 July 2009. The Department was created through the joining of the regional development function from the Department of Local Government and Regional Development, and the Lands function from the Department of Planning and Infrastructure.
The Department of Regional Development and Lands had three core business areas: regional investment through the Royalties for Regions program; the administration of the State's Crown Land and pastoral estate; and the development of regional policy.
The Department underwent a restructure in 2013. The Department of Regional Development and Lands was redesignated as the Department of Regional Development on 1 July 2013. The Department of Lands was established on the same day.
