History
The Department of Commerce and Trade was established to administer three principal programs: to foster an environment for sustainable development; to improve and promote competitive Western Australian industry; and to assist regional and community development.
The Department of Commerce and Trade became the Department of Industry and Technology on 1 July 2001. The regional functions of the Department of Commerce and Trade were transferred to the new Department of Local Government and Regional Development.
