History
In March 1984, the Government Computing Division of the Treasury Department became the Department of Computing and Information Technology, commonly called DOCIT. DOCIT's principal function was to provide for the efficient use of information technology in Western Australia and to ensure that the Western Australian community and all other relevant organisations were fully aware of the Western Australian Government's information technology policies and plans.
