History
The General Road Trust was established by law to provide management, control, superintendence and charge of all streets, quays, jetties, wharfs, bridges and ferries in each township. The Trust consisted of all Justices of the Peace and proprietors of land held in fee-simple to the extent of 1000 acres. The Trust reported to the Governor in its matters.
