History
By the 1950's concern was being expressed by the government of the day regarding the costs and deficiencies of independent laundries based at hospitals in the metropolitan area. However, it was not until 1971 that an Executive Planning Committee was appointed to oversee the development of the proposed Lakes Hospital and a Hospital Laundry and Linen Service. The intention to build the hospital was finally abandoned but the linen service project was proceeded with and the Hospital Laundry and Linen Service was declared open on a site in Ellis (now Murdoch) in February 1974.
