The Office of Racing and Gaming underwent a name change to become the Office of Racing, Gaming and Liquor on 12 September 1995. The name change was to reflect the department's liquor licensing activities.
As part of a series of machinery of government changes, the Office of Racing, Gaming and Liquor was retitled the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor on 1 July 2001.
