History

On 19 January 1924, the Honourables William Carroll M.L.A., John Joseph Holmes M.L.A. and George Potter M.L.A. were appointed Royal Commissioners to inquire into the affairs of the Jandakot Road Board.

The Royal Commission's terms of reference were to inquire into:

1) The functioning of the Jandakot Road Board;

2) The appointment of a Commissioner to exercise the Board's authority;

3) The charges made against certain members of such Board as disclosed on files of the Public Works Department, nos. 2710/22, 5285/20, 2588/22, 1142/23 and 2447/22;

4) The conduct of the business of the Board by the Commissioner appointed under Section 30 of the Road Districts Act 1919, the attitude of such Commissioner towards members or late members of the Board, and of such members and of the ratepayers of the district towards the Commissioner.
