History
The Kimberley Road Board District was divided into East Kimberley, West Kimberley and Kimberley Goldfields Road Board Districts and these new districts were proclaimed in the Government Gazette on 10 February 1887. On 1 July 1961, along with all other Road Boards in Western Australia, the West Kimberley Road Board became the Shire of West Kimberley (Agency No. 391).
