Administrative history

The East Kimberley Magisterial District was proclaimed and a Government Resident appointed in March 1886.The Court of General Sessions of the Peace ( or Quarter Sessions ) was proclaimed on 31 August 1886 and commenced hearing cases in February 1887. A Court of Native Affairs for the East Kimberley was established at Wyndham in March 1937.
