Administrative history
The Industrial Appeals Court was established under the Industrial Relations Act of 1979 to hear appeals arising out of cases heard before the Industrial Relations Commission where one of the parties is dissatisfied with the result. The Appeals Court consists of three judges of the Supreme Court appointed to the Appeals Court. On average, about 20 matters are taken to the Appeals Court each year (out of about 2000 applications processed by the Industrial Relations Commission each year).

The series consists of cases heard in the Industrial Appeals Court. Such cases generally result from an application to the Indutrial Relations Commission where one of the parties is dissatisfied with the outcome and Appeals the matter to the Industrial Appeals Court on a matter of law. On average approximately 20 matters are taken to the Industrial Appeal Court each year out of some 2000 applications processed annually by the Western Australian Industrial RelationsCourt.
