Administrative history

The Milk Board of Western Australia was established on 20 January 1947 under the Milk Act of 1946, replacing the Metropolitan Milk Board and the Metropolitan Whole Milk Act. The Board was responsible for the production, purchase, treatment, sale and distribution of milk throughout the State. The Board, and the Act under which it operated, were abolished with the passing of the Dairy Industry Act of 1973.

Administrative history

The Dairy Industry Authority of Western Australia was established on 11 March 1974 following the passing of the Dairy Industry Authority Act in 1973. This Act repealed previous Acts relating to the marketing of milk. The Dairy Industry Authority is responsible for organising the purchase, production, supply, manufacture, treatment, storage, transport, packaging, sale and distribution of milk and milk products.

Files for the two types of dairymen - those who supply manufacturing milk only and those who supply manufacturing milk and also possess a quota for the supply of milk for consumption. Files of manufacturing dairymen contain licences for the production of manufacturing milk while others contain invitations to apply for, and applications for the granting of a quota, quota certificates etc.
All files have been amalgamated and placed in alphabetical order. Files of manufacturing dairymen have blue covers.
