Scope and content
Files include documents, correspondence and orders, in the Family Court relating to matrimonial and de facto disputes. Under an arrangement with the Court, the original records were microfilmed, and these now form the official record. Due to the restricted access conditions attached to the records they may only be viewed at the Family Court of Western Australia.
An index to the files is held in electronic format at the Family Court.
Responsibility for the matrimonial jurisdiction was transferred to the Family Court of WA from the Supreme Court in 1976. For earlier divorce records see WAS 40 Divorce Registers and WAS 35 Divorce Files.
