Scope and content

Files of applications by prisoners to make telephone calls. These files form a record, along with the visitors books (WAS 731), of prisoners' outside contacts. These files reflect a period when prisoners could make calls more freely. Prior to this there were tight restrictions on calls. Files consist of application forms and show prisoner's name; date; name, address and phone numbers of person to be called; relationship to prisoner; authorized supervising officer; details of call and how it was monitored; other comments if any. For record of calls made see WAS 775 Registers - Telephone Calls.
