Constituted as KORRELOCKING Road District (RD) in 1911 (Government Gazette 30/6/11, p.2453). Name changed to NINGHAN Rd and district divided into four wards (including Trayning Ward) in 1912 (Government Gazette 18/3/12, p. 1230). Name changed to KUNUNOPPIN-TRAYNING Rd in 1923, following transfer of wards from Nungarin and Mt Marshall Road Districts (Government Gazette 12/10/23, p. 1989-1990). In June 1961 name changed to TRAYNING-KUNUNOPPIN-YELBENI Rd and from 1 July 1961 to SHIRE of TRAYNING-KUNUNOPPIN-YELBENI (Government Gazette 23/6/61, pp. 1989, 1997). Became SHIRE OF TRAYNING in 1965 (Government Gazette 10/9/65, p.3034).
