History
The Irwin and Greenough Districts were settled in the 1850s, following the establishment of a settlement at Champion Bay (later Geraldton). A road committee was formed in 1869 with the Champion Bay Resident Magistrate, M. Brown, as Chairman. Two years later, the Road Board District was gazetted and the Road Board elected in December, 1871.
