Administrative history

The Western Australian Government Railways [1] was established following the abolition of the Dept of Works & Railways and the creation of the WAGR and the Dept of Works & Buildings. In 1914 the function of tramways was added and the Department's title changed accordingly.

Administrative history

In 1914 it was decided to add the function of tramways to the WAGR and the agency title was changed accordingly.

A name change occurred again in 1922 to reflect responsibility for the additional function of electricity supply.

Index cards to Western Australian Government Railways Plans (Land Resumption, Permanent Way, Plan and Section, Station Yards, etc.). The cards are arranged by Railroad e.g. Armadale-Brookton line (Consignment 6549, box 2 also includes a collection of index cards to Standard Drawings which are arranged by locality e.g. Albany, Broome, etc).

The cards record the title of the plan (i.e. Railroad line), the type of plan, the plan number, the associated file number, the date of registration, the description of the plan and the scale of the plan.
