Administrative history
Fremantle Prison was built by convict labour between 1851 and 1855, and was first occupied in 1855. The Prison was closed in 1991 when the last prisoners were transferred to the new prison at Casuarina.

Card index of male inmates of Fremantle Prison compiled by Fremantle Prison Museum. Cards are arranged alphabetically by prisoner's name and give the registration number. A microfilm copy of Cons 4204 is available.
Item FP18 (Cons 1156) in this series consists of a single register which lists all prisoners with registrations 1 - 29183 (1888-1964).
