History
Kookynie (a mining centre located 75km north of Kalgoorlie) was declared a townsite in January 1900. The Trustees of the Public Cemetery were first appointed by the Governor on 17 June 1903. On 14 August the same year, Reserve 7839 was gazetted as the cemetery site.
