The first letterbooks (vols 41-43) contain transcipts of letters forwarded in chronological order. Each letter has been given a sequential number. Most of the letters are to the Colonial Secretary covering such topics as office matters, materials required by the Dept, forwarding of plans and land applications.
Letterbooks 44-46 contain handwritten press copies of letters which were later typed.
