This Authority was first gazetted as The Mooradung Road Board District on 18 May 1892. The District had previously been within the Williams Road Board.
From February 1899 the District was commonly called Marradong. This change of name was formalised in a gazettal notice dated 30 October 1903.
In 1925 a purpose built Road Board office was erected at Boddington. The latter name was adopted for the new local authority created in 1961 (see Agency No. 789).

Scope and content
Although the Marradong Road Board was established in 1892 the minutes of its meetings only exist from January 1900 to June 1906 and from September 1910 until the present (the first five volumes have been severely damaged by termites and may only be viewed on microfilm).
The Marradong Road Board became the Shire of Boddington on 01 July 1961.
The first fourteen volumes in this series (January 1900 - October 1961) were transferred to the State Archives in January 1972.
