Scope and content

Detailed record of occurrences in the condemned cells. The death sentence was abolished on 22.8.1984 by the Abolition of Capital Punishment Act. While there were no executions in Western Australia after 26 October 1964 the death sentence was handed down on a number of occasions before it was abolished. Until the sentence was commuted the prisoner was confined in the condemned cells.
