Scope and content

After 1872, arrivals and departures of ships are generally recorded. Between 1872-1873 the names of some overseas passengers are noted and some record of persons travelling between Albany and Perth by Mail Coach. Between 1883-1894 there are full passenger lists. Between 1895-1901 only a note of passengers is carried, if at all. In later years there is often a record of the arrival by train of members of parliament, government officials, etc and of notable people by ship.
Fires, floods and unusual events are recorded with notes also made of sports, entertainments, meeting, election, etc in addition to the routine police inspections and police court proceedings.

(Records in this Record Series were previously listed at the State Records Office at reference: AN 5/Albany; Accession 364)
