Administrative history
Formerly the Department of Works & Buildings, the Public Works Department expanded greatly from the beginning of the century, becoming responsible for the construction of the Goldfields Water Supply and Fremantle harbour. The Public Works Department changed its name to the Building Management Authority on 1 January 1985.

This series comprises a collection of records which were is use at the No. 8 Pumping Station, Dedari (pumping stations are fundamental to the Mundaring/Kalgoorlie Water Pipeline).
This pumping station was formerly steam driven and was built at the end of 1901. The steam driven pumping station was superseded by a diesel powered plant in 1970.
