Administrative history
Tenders were called for the erection of a Police Station, cells and magistrate's Court Room in Katanning in March 1891. The Katanning Police Station was officially opened on the 11 May 1892.

Scope and content
This register is a record of settlers visited by the officer-in-charge of Katanning Police Station as part of his patrols in the surrounding area. They record the name of the settler visited, their place of residence, the settler's occupation, their nationality, their marital status, their status (i.e. free settler or convict expiree) and miles covered. As a rule, the registers do not record any incidents or further activities whilst on patrol.
