Trustees of Derby Public Cemetery were appointed on 1 April 1908 (Government Gazette 10 April 1908). By-laws for the Derby Cemetery were published in the Government Gazette on 8 April 1909. On 24 September 1915 the West Kimberley Road Board was appointed as Trustees of the Derby Public Cemetery Reserve.
