Administrative history
Fremantle Prison was built by convict labour between 1851 and 1855, and was first occupied in 1855. The Prison was closed in 1991 when the last prisoners were transferred to the new prison at Casuarina.

These volumes record prisoner infringements and minor offences (e.g. fighting, talking in exercise yard, idleness, etc.) during their imprisonment.
The volumes records the name and registration number of the prisoner, the date of the offence, a description of the offence, reported by, punishment, tried by and date. There are entries for one prisoner per page and there may be more than one offence reported per prisoner. Some volumes contain an index at the front.
