History

On 17 April 1946, W.J. Wallwork was appointed Royal Commissioner to investigate and report upon all matters appertaining to an increase of coal production in Western Australia in order to assure the State of its coal requirements, present and future, and all other matters enumerated in the Commission relative to the coal mining industry generally. The Commission proceeded without public sittings or evidence taken on oath. Wallwork submitted his final report on 22 August 1946.
