Swanbourne High School opened on 13 February 1961 at the former Claremonts Infants' School while waiting for the Swanbourne school to be built. The building of Swanbourne Senior High School was not completed until the following year, when it opened with 272 students.
Swanbourne Senior High School was closed in December 2000 following a school rationalisation process.
