History
Perth Zoo began operations in 1898 and was governed by the Western Australian Acclimatisation Committee until 1932, when the Western Australian State Gardens Board took responsibility for the Zoo. The Zoological Gardens Board was established under the Zoological Gardens Act 1972 to govern the Zoo. The Zoological Gardens Act 1972 was repealed in 2002, and the Zoological Gardens Board was succeeded by the Zoological Parks Authority.
