History
On 1 July 1996, the Western Australian Building Management Authority and the Department of State Services merged to form the Department of Contract and Management Services. The Department of Contract & Management Services (CAMS) became the central point of contact for agencies and suppliers on contracting. The Department was responsible for developing and awarding contracts and for managing contracts.
As the design and construction of government buildings became outsourced, the Department remained to provide advice to client agencies on procurement of buildings.
On 1 July 2001, the public works function of the Department was transferred to the newly formed Department of Housing and Works. The Westlink function of CAMS was transferred to the Department of Local Government and Regional Development on the same day.
