History
In January 1988 the Department of Consumer Affairs became the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. The Ministry's corporate mission was to promote and maintain fair trading within the market place. It administered a number of Acts relating to consumer affairs.
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs was superseded by the Ministry of Fair Trading on 1 January 1993.
