History
On 6 July 1998, the Premier (the Hon. Richard Court MLA) announced the creation of a new Ministry of Housing to co-ordinate the activities of Government in rleation to housing throughout the State.
The new Ministry was established on 16 June 1999 to include Homeswest, the Government Employees Housing Authority and the Country Housing Authority to better balance the needs of the private industry in Western Australia, together with the provision of affordable housing and land.
The Ministry was merged with the public works function of the Department of Contract and Management Services on 1 July 2001 to form the Department of Housing and Works.
