The Collie Road District was created under the Roads Act of 1888 on the 26th January 1900. The records of the Collie Road District were created by the elected Collie Road Board. Collie Road Board is also referred to as the Collie Road District.

The Collie Coalfields Road Board was created from the amalgamation of the Collie Road Board and the Collie Municipal District on the 2nd March 1951.
On the 19 May 1961 the Collie Coalfields Road Board's name was changed to Collie Road Board before being changed to Collie Shire on 1 July 1961 when all local municipalities became shires.

These Collie Road Board Minute Books include the minutes of; the Local Board of Health 06/04/1909 - 17/08/1926; the Collie Road Board Local Health Authority from 19/08/1949 - 24/02/1951 and the minutes of the Finance Committee 7/08/1939 - 18/08/1945.
Between 17/08/1926 and 19/08/1949 public health matters were recorded in the Collie Road Board minutes. The Collie Road Board Local Health Authority was created from a joint agreement between the Collie Road Board and the Collie Municipal Council to deal with public sanitation.
