Scope and content
These registers were maintained by the Government School of Nursing to record the progress, as well as the test results, of student nurses enrolled at the Central Training School/Government School of Nursing.
The registers record the following information for each student nurse: name, date of birth, religion, date of entry into school, last school attended, standard of previous education, previous nursing experience, a report on aptitude and capabilities, results from tests administered by the school, date entered hospital and additional notes if the student nurse discontinued studies.
By 1965, the School introduced a pro-forma register and remarks about the student nurses' aptitude and capabilities cease with a greater focus on test results.
(The registers in this Record Series was previously listed at the State Records Office at reference: AN 120/28; Accession 2770).
