History
The South Perth Road Board was declared a municipality on the 21 February 1902 following a petition being filed by the rate payers in which they sought more power for their local government. The municipality was divided into 3 wards in 1905, the boundaries of each ward being gazetted on 5 November 1905. Opposition to the Municipal Council forced its abolition and the reconstitution of the Road Board on the 1 November 1922.
